4th Annual South Yorkshire Schools' Climate Conference 2024

Our fourth annual conference took place on 29 February 2024 at Niagara Conference Centre, Sheffield. 

Breaking new ground with an exciting and inspiring format, all conference attendees participated in a Climate Fresk workshop. Using a set of age-appropriate cards with information from the latest IPCC report on climate change, participants were taken through a process of sharing knowledge, increasing their understanding of the interactions between different aspects of climate change, reflecting on how they felt and exploring how to respond, including developing possible plans for action.

We featured a wide variety of local organisations and prominent individuals doing amazing work in climate change, education and related fields. The conference also highlighted some of the fantastic initiatives being taken by students in the region.

Attendees had the chance to listen to a talk by Dr Rachael Alexander on looking after your wellbeing in relation to climate anxiety, as well as being able to visit a range of climate organisation stalls to discuss climate action ideas, and watching a climate-themed musical performance.
